Riverside man killed in Moreno Valley neighborhood; suspect arrested

A 33-year-old Fontana man was arrested in Moreno Valley on suspicion of fatally shooting a man in a residential neighborhood Saturday afternoon, Aug. 6, authorities said.

Riverside County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Tea Rose Lane just west of Blue Lupin Lane about 12:10 p.m. on a report of a shooting, and found the victim with gunshot wounds, Sgt. Ben Ramirez said.

Deputies and paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the victim, identified by the sheriff’s department as Jason Williams, 28, of Riverside, died at the scene, Ramirez said.

After witnesses were interviewed, a suspect was detained at the scene. Jerome Roy Jackson was arrested on suspicion of murder and child endangerment, Ramirez said.

Whether Williams was shot inside a home or found outside was not disclosed. Nor did authorities say what led to the shooting, or if the men knew each other.

Jackson was being held in jail on no bail, according to inmate records.
