A reported rollover crash on the Mass Pike heading west has caused a widespread closure and heavy traffic as fire and emergency crews respond.
Westborough Fire said multiple units were called to a portion of the highway near the exit for Route 495, in the area of Southborough, around 8:30 p.m.
The department said the turnpike was “closed due to a serious crash” that involved a “rollover crash on fire.”

A tweet from the department said at least two people appeared to be involved in the crash, with one unconscious, according to a caller.
According to Massachusetts State Police, MSP troopers, MassDOT and emergency personnel have responded to the crash, which left at least one person seriously injured. Crime scene services and a “Crash Recon” unit were also called in.
Traffic is being diverted, according to an MSP spokesperson, who also noted that the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office had been notified of the crash.
